Maladype is touring in North Africa!

In the past twenty years, the Maladype Theatre has performed as a guest in more than forty countries, performing its repertoire with great success in many states of America, Asia and Europe. However, this is the first time that the internationally renowned troupe is presenting itself in Africa. As part of the North African tour, the audience of the international theater festivals of Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia can see their performances August and Yvonne.

Between the 25th-30th of November in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. SITFY - Sharm El-Sheikh International Theater Festival for Youth will be held for the 7th time. The only multinational theater festival of the Sinai Peninsula was founded by the director Mazen El-Gharabawy, with the aim of providing meeting and cooperation opportunities for the multinational theater creators who gather annually on the coast of the Red Sea. The SITFY competition program, selected by a prestigious international jury, includes performances by widely recognized creators and troupes, as well as performances in street theater and non-traditional theater spaces. Workshops, professional forums and thematic conferences can be visited during the festival. This year's theater meeting features 72 productions from 20 countries, including American, British, Croatian, Iraqi, Jordanian, Italian, Armenian, Slovak and Egyptian performances. Maladype represents Hungary in the program of the multicultural festival with its non-verbal performance entitled August, inspired by the short stories of Bruno Schulz.

After the guest performance in Egypt,  Maladype  will travel to Tunisia, where it will present its performance Yvonne at the JTC - Journées Théâtrales de Carthage (JTC - Theater Days of Carthage) international arts festival, which will be held in Tunis for the 23rd time from December 3rd to 10th. Established in 1983, the festival is the only Afro-Arab cultural event in the world that provides an international platform for diverse artistic expression and innovative theater initiatives. Organized at the same time as the Carthagoi Movie Day (from prose to movement theater, from classical pieces to contemporary works), the all-arts event also offers a number of professional programs for the participants. This year, more than 100 productions from 40 countries can be presented in 30 different locations at the army parade in the capital of Tunisia. Zoltán Balázs, the director of Maladype and the director of the Gombrowicz work, is not unknown to the Tunisian audience and the theater industry, since his production of Gardenia, which is currently running with great success at the Odeon Theater in Bucharest, was already presented on December 15, 2018 at the most important festival in the African-Arab region. .

Maladype's North African tour ends in Algeria, where December 21-26. an international theater festival is organized for the first time between The Sahara International Theater Nights program in Adrar, an important center of the trade route connecting North and West Africa, invited performances that stand out from the multitude of theater products with their unique vision and specific theatrical language. Sixteen countries will present their performances on various stages in the historic city of the hot desert. Okbaoui Cheikh, founder-director, highlighted at the press conference presenting the detailed program of the festival that the Maladype Theater will be the guest of honor of this year's first international theater meeting, which will also present its multi-award winning production August at the National Theater in Algiers before its appearance at the festival in Adrar.
